This incident has been resolved. Our investigation showed, that it's a bug in underlying platform provided by Azure. We are going to reach out to our Microsoft Azure contact and discuss this issue with them in order to prevent it from happening again. If you would be interested in the details, check out a postmortem for this incident that we will publish in upcoming weeks.

Update
We have identified an issue with our SQL database and applied a temporary fix. We are working on a permanent fix and continue to monitor the performance. The application has been back to normal for the past 40 minutes.
